You had been dating Dean for a few months and everything seemed to be going smoothly. He would drag you into his spontaneous ideas using his annoyingly convincing, charming smile. You adored the days when you screamed the lyrics to classic rock songs together, his hand on your knee, speeding down the highway in his car. Just to get away from everything for a moment. There were arguments here and there but you always made up. It wasn’t perfect but you were happy.

That was until he introduced you to his brother. Sam was everything Dean wasn’t, understanding, gentle, and level-headed. Someone you felt you could actually talk to since Dean wasn’t big on “feelings”. Sam always seemed to be able to tell when something was bothering you, knowing exactly how to make you feel better. Going out of his way to do little things, memorizing your takeout order, getting your favorite candy on gas station runs, cleaning your weapons after hunts because he knew you hated doing it. It didn’t seem like much, just Sam being Sam, but to you it meant so much more. You hadn’t realized what you were missing, that maybe you deserved more than the bare minimum.

It had been an exhausting day already, after a hunt gone wrong, you and Dean get into an fight, pent up stress adding fuel to the fire. Worse than it’s ever gotten, yelling and throwing things at each other. Having had enough, he storms out to cool off at a local bar, avoiding the problem as always. He would probably end up drinking too much, flirt with another girl, and run back to you apologizing.

Tired of it all and needing someone to talk to, you knock on Sam’s motel door, the only person you knew that would actually listen. As soon as he opens the door, seeing you in shambles, his smile turns into a frown. Tear stains streaked down your face, your eyes red and puffy, your hair a tangled mess. Quickly ushering you inside, his voice was laced with worry, looking down at you with those sincere puppy dog eyes. “Are you ok? What happened?”
