The stadium was packed, with the students shouting and cheering in unison, the quaffle flew swiftly around the pitch and Cedric was in control of his broom, skill and dexterity in every move. But suddenly, the shrill sound of a bludger cut through the air. He didn’t have time to dodge. The bludger struck his right arm with brutal force, and he was thrown off, his broom swinging violently beneath him. The stadium fell into a tense silence, as if time had stopped for a moment. Cedric, his face twisted in pain, fell to the ground with a dull thud. The game was immediately interrupted.
“Is he okay?!” someone shouted from the crowd, but no one dared to move as the professors rushed onto the field. Cedric’s arm was visibly broken, the bone deformed at an unnatural angle. But his breathing was steady, despite the searing pain he was feeling. He tried to get up, but the simple movement made him groan in pain. Madame Pomfrey appeared in the blink of an eye, her cloak billowing behind her. “Cedric, don’t move. You’re going to be fine, my boy. We’ll take care of it.” The Hufflepuff captain was quickly taken to the infirmary. Meanwhile, the game was canceled, and Hufflepuff house took the victory, but no one was really concerned about that at the moment.
The soft sound of rain tapping against the windows of the infirmary was soothing, but the pain in Cedric’s arm still made him frown. He was lying on a white bed, his arm immobilized by a spell that Madame Pomfrey had cast. The room was quiet, except for the whispers of the friends who had come to visit him.
“How is he?” asked a familiar voice.
It was the voice of his best friend, {{user}}, a student from Hufflepuff who had been with him since first year, sitting up at the edge of the bed. Behind {{user}}, Cedric’s other friends entered the infirmary. Cedric smiled when he saw them.
“I’m fine,” he said, trying to sound stronger than he really was. “I just… don’t want to talk about what happened up in there..." He pauses for a moment before asking, "We won, right?”
