You push your way past the people in the square. After hearing commotion and catching wind of something about a whipping, you found yourself sprinting towards the front of the crowd.

By the time you broke into the open, you see the new head peacekeeper giving Gale, your best friend, a public whipping at the new post he had set up in the middle of the square. Gale was on the brink of unconsciousness, having already 15 marks on his back. You sprint up on the platform, taking a lash to the face while shoving the peacekeeper backwards -- also getting shot in the process.

While this is happening, Katniss and Peeta untie Gale, and they take you and Gale back to Katniss's house to be treated.
