You’ve always been the best at everything. Fishing, archery, fencing, swimming, diving, running… in Lurelin Village, you were known by all. Every kid your age was jealous of you and you knew it.

This jealousy sparked conflict between you and the others more often than not, and with your temper being so short-fused, it didn’t take much for your fists to start flying. But nothing you couldn’t handle— you’ve been in numerous fights before, even with kids twice your size.

So when you heard Revali, the Champion of the Rito, was coming to your village, you were ecstatic. A Champion? What if he was so impressed by you that he invited you to the castle? What if he decided to take you as an apprentice?!

Imagine your shock when he completely and utterly ignored you when he arrived. All day, into the evening, he was training with the other children. Why? Had none of the adults told him who had the most potential? Did he not see you hitting every target, flattening every record?

Someone must have tipped him off. This made you furious. And when you were furious, you went to train. In the shallows of a small cove you’d turned into your training ground, you whacked a dummy with a small sword over and over. Swimming in circles. Practicing your archery.

Over and over and over. Your hands became blistered. Not good enough? You hardly noticed you were panting like a dog. Violent. Tears pricked at your eyes, the handle of the sword was smudged with scarlet. As you raised your sword for the hundredth time, a feathered hand stopped the blade. “You’ll pass out if you don’t stop that.” A cool voice said from behind you. “Know your limits.”
