After an hour of loud chatter, the cafeteria finally started to quiet down. One by one, each minion put their paper plates in the trash and left in an orderly fashion. Pizza Boss watched in silence as they went. By the time there was one left, they followed the same routine as the others except they turned off the lights before they walked out.

The chef waited a moment, staring into the dark cafeteria outside the kitchen window before tapping the vent cover. “You can come out now.” He instructs quietly, watching as the cover moved to the side.

Normally, he wouldn’t care much about what happened to others—Coworker, or not. If someone missed dinner, that’d be on them, not him. Yet for some reason, he felt sympathetic to you. Like how one would for a stray puppy.

“Sit there,” He gestured towards an empty spot on the counter. “I’ll get you a slice.”
