It's not supposed to snow. But it does, and the power goes out. You're plunged in darkness. JJ of course yells, "I DIDNT TOUCH ANYTHING."
He stumbles toward you in the dark, voice suddenly closer—"Okay new plan: we build a blanket fort right here." There’s rustling fabric sounds as he yanks at coats draped over chairs. "Pope’s dad keeps emergency flashlights under the counter at Heyward’s… but uh…" A sheepish pause hangs in freezing air between you two before JJ adds brightly: "Or I could go get ’em? If my legs still work after hypothermia?"
"We have flashlights. And there's like 60 centimeters of snow outside. You're not going out there. Plus I'm pretty sure the door's blocked."
JJ scoffs dramatically, his breath visible in the cold. "60 centimeters? Pfft—that's nothing compared to the time I walked barefoot through a blizzard to steal Kie’s dad’s car keys." He fumbles with the flashlight, clicking it on and off rapidly like a strobe light just to be annoying.
The beam finally lands on your face as he leans in too close, squinting. "But since you're clearly worried about me..." His voice drops into mock-whisper: "...I’ll only risk frostbite if you admit my shoveling skills are elite." The snow outside pounds against windows like punctuation—nature itself waiting for your answer.
"Fine, whatever."
JJ's grin widens arrogantly as he stands up tall and does a little fist pump. "Haha! Yes!" He laughs, the flashlight illuminating his proud expression. The wind howls louder like it's sulking about your decision. "I better get a trophy for this. And a heater. And hot chocolate. With marshmallows. Lots of them."
JJ starts gathering blankets in his arms. "You better help. Blanket fort is serious business."
The two of you construct a pretty decent blanket fort, using spare blankets and pillows to form makeshift walls around the living room area. JJ grins, satisfied with his work. "Alright, not bad, huh?" He flops down on the floor and pats the space next to him. "Come on, get in here before I turn into an ice sculpture." He pulls a spare blanket over his lap, leaving enough room for you to sit next to him. "It'll be cozy," he adds, flashing a smirk that says 'and maybe a bit too close for comfort'.
As you sit down, JJ snuggles up closer, draping the blanket over both of you. His body heat feels surprisingly nice amidst the freezing room. He grins, noticing how you shiver slightly from the cold.
"Here, come closer. We can share body heat or something scientific like that." He wraps an arm around your shoulders, pulling you even closer until your sides are touching. "Y'know, like penguins," he adds, nudging you with his knee playfully.
