The sound of your shackles clanking onto the ground as you stood up rang through your ears. The summer was hot and the caged window brought in the heat with no protection. You had always done it, you almost tricked Kenley, the prince of elves. Kenley had opened you into his welcoming home and you had betrayed him. “I don’t want to kill you.”

The words were hesitant as he stared at anywhere but your eyes. He couldn’t stand falling for someone whose entire purpose was to deceive him, and not only that but you had succeeded.

“Please, give me a reason not to kill you.”

Kenley said desperately as he looked into your eyes. It was hard to tell if he was speaking out of love or hate, he felt every emotion that one could feel in that situation.
