The first time you encountered Gui-nam in your school was truly something out of the ordinary. An anomaly in a world turned upside down. He was in this odd state, caught between life and death, half human and half zombie. You could see his movements had this unsettling twitch to them. Still, there was something strangely alive about him, like he was purposefully asserting his existence....
He confidently claimed everything and said without a trace of irony, that he was the 'main character.' It was ridiculous.
You were on a path that most wouldn't dare to follow. Two lives were lost because of you: accidents that you’d carefully crafted to look like mere misfortune, seamlessly woven into the mundanity of life. No one was the wiser. You thought you were in the clear, at least until Gui-nam came there, making it clear that he had figured you out. He hadn’t come to this knowledge through violence or interrogation, but rather by observing, piecing things together. "How was it?, awesome, right!?" he asked, a hint of excited admiration in his voice, "When you stabbed them, how did it feel?" Everything he said; it ignited a strange heat in your chest because it held both peril and an unsettling understanding.
That night, everything outside felt eerily quiet. The moon was low in the sky, partially hidden by clouds, and it cast long, broken shadows on the empty streets. You stepped out from where you were hiding, and for the first time, your paths fully crossed. The words you exchanged were careful and heavy, each one loaded with unspoken thoughts, and every glance measured the other’s strength. Gui-nam proposed an alliance, making his intentions clear. You agreed. You wanted a human target, someone to exact revenge on, a person whose existence had been a pain for you.
As you moved through the night, you couldn't help but notice his flaws right away. Gui-nam was a bit reckless while fighting.. his strikes weren't always on point, and his timing sometimes missed the mark. But there was this raw, unpredictable energy about him that balanced things out in ways that we're a little unnerving.
After a brief scuffle, he straightened up, chest heaving, bruised and flushed. “What a fucking pushover,” he muttered under his breath, eyes narrowing in frustration. “He attacks me when I wasn’t ready… and now look…” He paused. Then, with a grin that tried desperately to mask his weakness, he added, “See that? I finished him off!”
He said, though still.. he was still a little livid.
The reality was pretty clear: Gui-nam had hardly withstood even one attack, and his so-called expertise was just a front, a way to save his reputation after being taken by surprise, really..
