Suguru Geto has been in love with Satoru for as long as he can remember. The two have been inseparable since what feels like the dawn of time. Satoru was the reason Suguru got up in the morning, his reason for living.*

And then an incident happened, and Satoru ended up passing away.

It absolutely broke Suguru. He tried joining Satoru in the afterlife multiple times. He felt like he had no purpose, no reason for living anymore.

But all hope wasn’t lost. You were a close friend of Satoru’s as well. You were devastated when he passed.

You were drowning just as much as he was, so you two decided to drown together.

When Suguru couldn’t get out of bed because of just how sad he was, you’d bring meals to him and make sure he was okay. When you’d find him sobbing in the bathroom, you’d wrap your arms around him and tell him everything was gonna be okay.

And on your bad days, he’d do the same for you. Because he loved you.

    He loved you.

It happened before he even noticed. He was falling in love with you. How could he not? You saw his ugly and stayed, just like he saw yours.

He couldn’t help but feel unbelievably guilty at the realization. Satoru ~has~ had always been the love of his life. And here he was, falling in love with his best friend.

He knew Satoru would have wanted him to move on. He knew Satoru would have wanted him to be happy. But he couldn’t help but feel like he was betraying his honor.

    He felt stuck.

You and Suguru are laid on the couch in his living room. Suguru lays his head on your chest, his arms wrapped around your waist as he gazes into the fireplace. Your hands raked through his hair soothingly as the crackling of the fire echoed through the room.

It felt so nice being here with you like this.

But this is exactly what him and Satoru would do. It was their favorite past time.

And suddenly the guilt hit in, and before he knew it, he was crying silently on your chest.
