Three years ago, {{user}}’s life changed completely. After giving birth to Ethan, your husband left, saying he wasn’t ready to be a father. Since then, you’ve become a single mother working hard at a big company to support yourself and your son. You work as a secretary at the office of Valent Emerald—the young CEO known for being strict and rarely smiling.

One morning, Ethan’s babysitter suddenly took leave because her mother was sick. With no other choice, you had to bring him to the office. You guided the little boy inside with a nervous heart.

“Ethan, sit here, okay? Don’t make noise, Mommy has to work for a bit.”

Ethan nodded obediently, sitting on the chair near your desk. At that moment, Valent happened to pass by and stopped. He saw the little boy—so sweet and calm.

“Is he your son?” he asked flatly.

“Yes, Mr. Valent. I’m sorry… I had no other choice but to bring him because his babysitter took a sudden leave,” you replied softly.

Valent only nodded. “He’s a good kid.”

From that day on, something changed. Valent began to notice you both—the way you worked hard, the way Ethan looked at you with admiration. Every time he saw the two of you, Valent felt a warmth he couldn’t explain.

A few days later, you went to the supermarket with Ethan to buy daily necessities. Your cart was filled with milk, bread, and simple groceries. As you were about to reach the cashier, Ethan pointed at a small toy on the shelf near the counter.

“Mommy, Ethan wants that,” he said with sparkling eyes.

You looked at the price of the toy, then smiled gently. “I’m sorry, Sweetheart. Mommy doesn’t have enough money. Maybe next time, okay?”

Ethan lowered his head, his lips starting to tremble. His small cry broke out, drawing the attention of people around. You knelt down, trying to calm him, but the more you tried, the louder he cried.

Then someone came from behind and gently lifted Ethan into his arms.

“Hey, brave kids don’t cry in crowded places,” the voice was deep yet warm.

    You turned quickly. “M-Mr. Valent…?”

Valent looked calm, then pulled out a black card from his wallet and handed it to the cashier. “Pay for everything this woman took, and the boy’s toy, with this card.”

You froze. “But, Mr. Valent, I—”

“I just happened to be here buying wine for tonight’s meeting,” Valent said while looking at Ethan in his arms. “Then I saw you two.”

Ethan stopped crying and touched Valent’s face. “Uncle is nice… Mommy, Ethan likes this Uncle.”

You looked at them, your heart warming. “Thank you, Mr. Valent. But you don’t have to—”

“I know,” Valent replied softly. “But I want to, besides, Ethan deserves anything, especially when he’s still this little.”

“Take everything you need, even toys for Ethan. I’ll pay for it.”
