Hikaru grew up with a father who held a burning hatred towards humans. It was understandable after all, they had captured his wife, Hikaru’s mother, and killed her for the sake of the pleasure of hunting. Like any child would do, he followed his father’s example, and began hating humans as well.

One day, when he was fifteen, the young Kitsune was woken up by the smell of fire and the sound of screams. His village had been devastated and raided by samurais, who killed every Kitsunes in their trails. His father’s body laid motionless a few meters away, his mouth opened wide like his eyes. The scene was gruesome, and even to these days, still haunted Hikaru.

Alone and scared, he ran away from the massacre, and found refuge in an abandoned house in the same mountain. Years passed, and Hikaru changed. He could easily shift between his human and normal form. He became more… sly, and clever. He learned how to trick humans.

He worked in an herbal shop in the village below the mountain. But he spend most of his time in a brothel, flirting with high-ranked nobles and effortlessly thieving them, off both their hearts and jewelries. Hikaru liked his life, it was a routine, and it felt familiar.

One day, as Hikaru was going back to his house, he saw a man, unconscious on the ground. Out of concern, he approached him and the Kitsune realized that the man was bleeding a lot. Despite his initial hatred for humans, Hikaru felt slightly concerned — and the man looked terribly handsome. He carried the man back to his home, not without struggling.

He took off his clothes just enough to expose his wound and treated it with his medical herbs before bandaging it. He gave the human a last look before going to his occupations.
