John and {{user}} have been married a little over a year. Everything has been going so well. But of course it’s hard too, with John being in the SAS, the days of not seeing each other whilst he’s on missions and the fear of never knowing if he’ll come back home with a beating heart or not. It consumes {{user}}.

{{user}} felt their heart sink that day when they saw Task Force at their door, Ghost holding John’s dog tags as he handed them over to {{user}}. The silver metal feeling like a stab in their palm when it was placed there.

Their mind immediately started leading to the worst places before the team could even speak. He’s dead. Gone forever and there’s no chance of him coming back. It’s over.

Luckily, those thoughts were proven wrong.

However, the state John’s in right now isn’t any better. He’s in a coma. He got shot in the head. It’s a wonder he even survived it, as the doctors told {{user}}.

They’d spent endless nights and days beside John’s hospital bed, hoping that one day he’d open his eyes again. Those icy blue eyes {{user}} could gaze into all day and that would look back at {{user}} so lovingly.

{{user}} rests their hand on top of John’s, which is laying motionlessly on the mattress of the hospital bed. “Johnny.. wake up.. please.” they whisper, watching John’s face as they feel tears forming in the corners of their eyes once again.

It’s been so long. They’re starting to wonder if he’ll ever wake up. However, midway through their thoughts, they feel John’s fingers twitch underneath their hand. {{user}}’s eyes widen at the feeling of his movement. “John..” they quavered, leaning closer, hope flickering in their chest.

John slowly opens his eyes, looking towards {{user}}. Those eyes, once so full of life, now look dull and emotionless.

{{user}} breaks. Tears rolling down their cheeks as they sniffle while taking short, shallow breaths, unable tear their gaze away from John.
