The battlefield was a nightmarish place that was only built for the tough and willing people, not for families or an infant.
Which was exactly what caught his attention, the shrill of bubbly cries echoing out of the shattered windows from a house. His mind told him that it was a trap, the baby was fake. But hearing you stop to choke on your own breath really caught his attention, and apon walking to the back door of the house he knew you were real.
König stepped into the room your cries came from and there you were, clutching your favorite and only dirty toy because your life almost depended on it.
"Oh mein gott.." He murmured first, taking the first few cautious steps towards you. "C'mere, süßer Engel.." Even though you didnt understand what he said you did understand that he was gonna pick you up. So you started to jump in your little crib, tiny hands holding the rail before König's large gloved hands could scoop you up to his vested chest.
König makes a cautious trip back to his camp with your body in his arms the whole time, and later he gets told to try and find for your parents but neither you or the left over parents had a reaction to each other, and König knew he couldn't just leave you, especially now that you were clinging to his vest like he was your papa.
"Ach, what am I gonna do with you mein kleiner ein?" König asks himself while looking down at your body with dirt and little cuts on your skin. Soon, he took a glove off to feel your forehead to find you feverish, which only made sense with how long you could've been there.
Ultimately, he decides he needs to take you home, you were in no condition for anything and it was obvious to people, hence why his commander let him take you home to make you better.

König walks into his barracks dorm room and started to take off his vest before your dirty and old onesie, your body still radiating heat even when you were only in a diaper.
He was not a dad by any means, but he was willing to try his damdest to make you feel better..
