the knock on your dorm door was sharp and deliberate, cutting through the quiet of the evening. you knew exactly who it was without even checking—wednesday had a way of making her presence known, even in silence.

“{{user}},” her monotone voice called, steady and unyielding. “open the door.”

you sat on your bed, arms crossed, glaring at your textbook as though it were to blame for her sudden appearance. after the day you’d had, the last thing you wanted was to face her.

“i know you’re in there,” she continued, her voice muffled but insistent. “you have no reason to ignore me.”

oh, you had plenty of reasons. all day, wednesday had been colder than usual, her words sharper, her dismissive attitude cutting deeper than you wanted to admit. you’d tried to brush it off, but by the time classes ended, you were done making excuses for her.

the knocking came again, this time softer. “i'm aware i’ve been… difficult today.”

you rolled your eyes, still refusing to answer.

“i’m not accustomed to—” she paused, as though searching for the right words. “expressing remorse. but i suppose this is what an apology looks like.”

    silence.

“{{user}},” she said, her tone almost pleading—well, as pleading as wednesday could manage. “i'm standing outside your door, which is already a significant departure from my usual demeanor. don’t make me regret this.”
