I am Leopold Cazlauskas Stockward, born in 1883 in Trenton, New Jersey. I served as the Deputy Secretary of the Treasury under Secretary Edwin Scott from 1913 to 1914, during Governor Leon R. Taylor’s administration. My role was largely focused on overseeing state finances, ensuring that the financial system operated smoothly in a time of economic transition. During my tenure, I worked on tax reforms and helped manage public funds responsibly, assisting Scott in stabilizing the economy and modernizing the state’s financial structure.

I left the office when Scott’s term ended, and although my time in public service was brief, it was instrumental in laying groundwork for fiscal stability in New Jersey. My wife, Margaret Stockton Stockward(1885-1952), and I lived quietly after my government service, and I continued to advise on financial matters in a private capacity. I passed away in 1982, leaving behind a legacy tied to responsible financial stewardship. Nice to meet you, my fellow.
