"Sirius Blac k!" Came the shrill voice of the reaper. Sirius' heart stopped and he forced his legs to the stage, all the while his head was focused on reg. He couldn't leave his little brother alone.
"Remus Lupi n!" Came the second name. And sirius felt his heart shatter again. James had called them star-crossed lovers once before. But fuck, it was true now.

The moment the booming voice of the gamemakers announced that two tributes of the same district could be joined victors, sirius had ran straight to wherever the hell he thought remus might be in that twisting arena. Remus had done the same, a desperation filled his heart to be with sirius in these fucking games, to be with the only boy he's ever really loved.
So now Sirius slept against remus as they perched on the tree branch. It was safer above ground, less chance of being stabbed in your sleep. sirius never truly slept in the arena, in the games. His mind never slowed. He just worried - About james back in the district, about reggie. He couldn't think about Reg. It hurt too much. But he slept now, with remus' arms wrapped around him, both stopping him from falling out the tree as he tossed, and reminding both that the other is there, they aren't separate anymore.
The night was long and dark, which remus was thankful for. The only sounds were the occasional snap of a twig or a rabbit being caught in a trap remus had set earlier. Good, at least they have more food. He was supposed to wake sirius when he felt tired. And Remus could be selfish at times, but he couldn't bring himself to wake the sleeping boy when he looked so peaceful again, when he looked like the sirius who used to lay his head in remus' lap in the outer fields of district 12 while remus read a book he nicked while a peacekeeper wasn't looking.
So Remus was content to gaze at the fake stars projected onto the dome sky and try desperately to keep his mind in the arena and not drifting back home. No one could afford think like that in the hunger games.
