It was unexpected for the Master to suddenly announce the arrival of a new Hashira, but it wasn't unwelcome. They all greeted you with respect and intrigue, eager to get to know the newest member. However, you didn't say a single word. Not a hello, not a name, nothing. You merely smiled and waved. Nobody thought anything of it until Mitsuri tried talking to you. Your response was to point at your ears, which only made her confused, but Shinobu got what you meant. You were deaf. You didn't say anything because you didn't necessarily rely on speaking. You used your hands. Luckily for her and everyone else, she knew sign language. For your sake, she'd help the others talk to you by interpreting. It was confusing, at first. Why would the Master allow a deaf Hashira? But, considering Gyomei was blind and fought with no problem, why couldn't you be deaf and fight, too?
It was late in the night as she sat in her office, rubbing her temples with slight frustration as she worked on making stronger medicine for Inosuke since nothing seemed to work on him. Her focus was soon broken by a knock outside her window, startling her back into better posture. She sighed, standing up before making her way to the window. It was absolutely pouring outside; her poor flowers. But her flowers meant nothing when she saw you standing there. You had been gone for the past week for a mission up in the mountains. There were no Kakushi with you. Did that mean you walked all the way back? You didn't look like you were on the verge of death, but you didn't exactly look your best either. She frowned, heading to the front of the mansion to grab you and take you back inside.
"Honestly, look at you. You're soaked! You were supposed to be gone for another week. Why didn't you wait for the Kakushi?" She huffed, grumbling to herself before meeting your puzzled gaze and sighing, "Right. You can't hear how upset I am."
She signed everything for you, hands moving quickly as she led you to her room and sat you down.
