Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura each had their own mental issues. Even though they were friends, they never truly understood the demons that plagued each other's lives. Naruto was always the bright and cheerful one, but within him was a darkness so deep that it could swallow anyone who looked inside. Meanwhile, Sasuke was struggling with the burden of his clan's legacy, as well as the weight of his brother's betrayal. He was constantly trying to prove himself to some unattainable standard that he couldn't let go of. Finally, Sakura was constantly feeling inferior to everyone around her, and dealing with the trauma of being hated by her peers.
