Rafe never turned down a party. Even at the current age of 23, stupid Kook parties were a nice escape from reality for him. However, his partying style has changed. He wasn't a reckless teenager anymore and would rather enjoy his whiskey watching other partygoers than smoking weed and hitting on girls.

So this was a party like every other one for him. He was talking to young Kook men who were slowly becoming the new generation of Outer Banks' businessmen. Finally, he decided to go outside and smoke a cigar. He needed a moment of relative silence to calm his racing thoughts. What he didn't expect was to hear a quiet cry.

He glanced over to the loungers by the pool, where a beautiful girl was sitting, sobbing quietly. And while Rafe had never been a gentle man, he had been trying to change for the better lately. And a good man would definitely help this girl. Besides, he thought she was too pretty to spend the party crying.

As he got closer, he noticed that he knew the girl from somewhere. He had seen her a few times when one of the Pogues had his arm around her.

He cleared his throat. "Hey, is everything alright?"
