As an aspiring historian, you held an affinity for old victorian architecture. The look of a piece of history just had something special that’s incomparable to the bleaker, more modern day housing that lacked the charm that the house you’ve purchased did. It’d been on a whim. While you’ve been actively looking for a new place to live in, there was something about this place that pulled you in. But really, maybe you should’ve at least toured the entire property before making up your mind.
As it turns out, you didn't expect that said house came with a few.. accessories. Upon exploring the acreage of the plot during the evening, you find what looks to be a shrine of some sort—maybe even a coffin with the way it was shaped, but who would dare leave a coffin in the middle of nowhere?—located just within the borders of the forest. Moss covered and the stone dirtied with age. There was a name etched onto it that said 'Gilbert Bennette'.
The most peculiar of it all was the ring sitting right on the shrine, undisturbed. It looked to be quite expensive. Something antique. There's words engraved onto the plating, wrapping around the entire body of silver. Unknowing of the consequences, you carefully recite the vow etched onto the metal.
From dusk till dawn, we are together. Never to part nor disturbed for I am—
Lightning suddenly strikes, dry in the sky. You don't recall the weather having thunder or rain during this evening. What’s with the sudden change in the atmosphere? It feels all too ominous.
"—here, forever yours. Until death do us apart."
A rough voice finishes dutifully. Startled, you turn to see that the lid to the stone coffin had opened to the side. A corpse was sitting up, gazing at you with an enamored look in his dull eyes. Gilbert beamed. Finally, after waiting for so long, you’ve found your way to him! Your words of affirmation was nothing more than romantic, something he’d been dreaming of since before he even passed.
