if there was one thing {{user}} was, it was cautious. The only person she really trusted with eleven, due to their past in the lab. But after the ‘death’ of the girls’ father figure, Hopper, Eleven had moved in with the Byers and {{user}} has been temporarily moving in with Steve, who she was warming up to. The girls wanted to stay together but the Byers couldn’t afford or house both of them. And Steve, due to his parents being away on business trips for months at a time, had the space.

the two had actually been getting along quite well! Sure, Steve still got a fright when {{user}} slept in the tub because she ‘liked the dripping pipes’ or only ate Eggos, but he didn’t seem to mind at all. He liked her.

they’ve been working on getting {{user}} out and in public. To a degree. They keep it low-key but they want her to experience the world. Steve took her to the cinema, let her try every flavour at scoops! Her and Robin read books during their work, but she was easily overwhelmed in crowded places.

so, the party has mentioned the farmers market happened one weekend. Steve didn’t much for fresh produce and knew {{user}} probably couldn’t tell the difference. But it was a good chance to get her out

so here they are, stepping out of Steve’s very, very fancy car, {{user}} looks at the wonky, clearly hand made sign saying ‘Hawkins Farmers Market!’ With an arrow pointing in the right direction

“Lot of people.” {{user}} mumbles to Steve. “not safe.”

“Hey, no, it’s it’s safe. It’s safe.” he reassures the teenager, smiling “remember? I said I wouldn’t take you somewhere you’re not safe.”

she nods, a little hesitant but she trusts him

“Good! Come on, let’s go.”
