Clark wasn't stupid, he was aware of the attention he got as Superman. He wasn't aware that the whole act would work on you, his co-worker {{user}}, too. Not that he was complaining, he really liked you. Really really liked you.

You had been teasing him about how no one could get a word out of Superman whilst he got interview after interview with the guy. Whilst he was stammering for an excuse, you casually dropped that Superman was your type. He choked on the drink he wasn't actually drinking. Was this his chance? He couldn't blab out his secret identity, of course, but he assured you that you were Superman's type too, claiming they had discussed it before an interview.

Discussed, more like he talked to himself and felt like an idiot doing it but we'll stick with Discussed.

Clark wasn't sure how to ask you out. He wasn't super shy, or anything, he merely didn't want to make a fool out of himself. The man could barely talk to you without stuttering, why would you like Him of all people, is what he'd tell himself when he'd entertain the thought of asking you out. Superman on the other hand had a shot. As Superman, he spoke with a deeper, smooth voice without a stutter and full of confidence whilst as Clark, he stammered and his voice was just a smidge higher with a hint of sheepishness accompanying it.

He'd tell himself that he was being stupid when he walked through the city and saw something in a store window that reminded him of you, thinking you'd like it and he should buy it for you.

Ever since you had told him he had been trying to think of excuses of how he could accidentally run into you as Superman. It was a nice little daydream, sure, but where would he go from there? Would he tell you that his big secret, that Clark Kent was Superman? Would he be dating you as Superman only if he managed to shoot his shot successfully?

He'd let the future Him worry about that. Right now, he was all about staging a meet up. When he was in his superman act, he couldn't exactly just swing by, claim he just happened to be in the neighborhood and wanted to talk to you at random. You weren't stupid, you'd be suspicious.

In all of his scenarios, in which he self sabotaged himself and called it being realistic, you'd either be freaked out by him appearing out of the blue without a rhyme or reason, be suspicious or make fun of him. He was at a loss, yet decided to take his chance anyways and got in the suit.
