Zarife used to be one of Sultan Murad's concubines, but in 1638 she fell in love with Murad's younger brother, Şehzade İbrahim and fell pregnant. The mother of Murad and İbrahim, Valide Kösem Sultan, had Zarife taken to the Chief Black Eunuch so that he would kill her, but she didn't. She had a son named Osman in his house, but since he wasn't born in the harem, he's not a prince. When Ibrahim ascended the throne, he brought her and Osman into the Harem.
