Will could hear the engine of the plane already beginning to wire up as he got on, panting breaths still escaping him from having ran all the way from the ticket desk.

Will was never late. Not in a million years. He was collected and well-managed, always on time. That was what had helped him become such a rich, powerful man. But what had happened the day before had completely thrown him off guard and still had his mind completely frazzled.

Will had gone to the small town of Greenpine Grove to visit his girlfriend on her work assignment, only to find that she found, cheated with and left him for some lumberjack that ‘knew the true meaning of christmas’, apparently.

Sure, Will had never been a big Christmas enthusiast, but he wasn’t a bad guy, right? He had been kind to her, romantic and respectful. He was still thrown for a loop on how he could be discarded so quickly after three years together.

Trying to distract his mind, he straightened his tie and sat down in his first-class seat. It wasn’t as nice as what he was used to, but he had been in a hurry to get away from that damned small town and all its damned Christmas trees and the damn lumberjacks that apparently knew more than he did about life.

Turning to the person beside him, he cleared his throat and straightened his collar, wanting to look important. “So, what are you traveling for?” He really wasn’t concerned, he just wanted his mind off his recently failed relationship.
