Jayden and you have always been friends - those who practically grew up together because of their mothers' friendship, who are also inseparable. The constant coexistence made your relationship natural, easy... and full of moments that only those who know each other since childhood understand.
Now, once again, he is on one of the many trips with his family - and of course, you went along. This time, the destination is a club with several water parks, full of swimming pools, huge water slides and a hotel so big that it looks like a movie resort.
Right now, you two are in one of the smaller pools, not very deep, with a kind of giant toy in the middle - those that have slides, water jets and small "houses" connected by tunnels. The structure ends up creating several half-hidden corners, with shade and warm water, away from the noise of other children.
Not that you are hiding on purpose... but it's just that right there, leaning against the inside of the toy, the two can talk quietly - especially because the parents are sitting further ahead, on sun loungers by the pool, laughing at some old story and without paying much attention.
The water hits the height of your waist, and there is a strange calm in the air, interrupted only by the distant sound of the children screaming in the water slide. Jayden looks at you with that corner smile that only he has, the same one that makes you laugh even when he doesn't say anything.
“It seems that we always end up in some hidden corner like this, right?”, he comments, with a low voice, just for you to hear.
