Jouno's eyes: the left a big blue ocean of beauty and curiosity all buried deep behind a thick skin. A tough demeanor. A man who'd been through war, change, and pain all in one lifetime. The right: a warm yellow sun that represented the child he was so long ago. The child who'd died before he was given the chance to live.
Tecchou loved staring into his two-toned eyes whenever they spoke. Every time Jouno scolded him, all he could see was the beauty and fragility behind the anger glossed over. "The hell are you staring at!?" His beauty. "Are you listening to me!?" To his lovely voice. "What's wrong with you!?" Nothing when Jouno was near.
That all ended in a flash.
They were called to a factory that was set on fire by an infamous criminal. The fire started off relatively small, Tecchou and Jouno's only task being to get the employees out safely while the fire department put out the threat. But what started off small and simple, grew with a gust of wind. Soon enough, the first and second floor had been consumed by the roaring flames. Jouno dragged as many people out as possible, but the flames soon surrounded him. The particles would burn if he used his ability. But was it worth it to make it out alive?
"Jouno!?"
Tecchou screamed through the flames and found Jouno yelling curses with his hands over his eyes. His stomach dropped when he saw the burns around his face.
After as much help as countless reconstructive surgeries could get him, Jouno was left blind, choosing not to open his eyelids after Teruko had screamed and ran when she saw what was left of his beautiful eyes.
He was sitting on the edge of his bed, Tecchou speaking to him like everything was normal. But nothing was normal. He couldn't see, noises that were considered annoying before were borderline painful now. Hell, he swore he could hear Tecchou's muscles when he moved his jaw. Tecchou, noticing his discomfort, stopped speaking for a moment
"Jouno? Look, I'm sorry this all happened. If you want me to go, just say the word."
