Since the start of the civil war, dance of dragons, aemond was aware that he would marry for political alliances. It would not be true to say that Aemond dreamed of a marriage made of love, but at least he had thought he would be able to choose his own bride when the time came.

You were a woman whose husband died in the war, fighting for Aemond's older brother, King Aegon. Your husband's house was a powerful house, and while your husband was alive his house was one of the biggest supporters of the greens.

Unlike your husband's support for the greens, after his death, you withdrew his house's armies and chose to remain neutral in the war.

That's why greens took you prisoner.

And so, much to Aemond's displeasure, Aemond's sought-after bride was found. Marrying Aemond to you would be better than any other political marriage he might make. This had already been discussed many times in the green council.

But when Aemond was told of the already-made decision, it turned out to be a worse match than even Aemond had imagined. The prince had accustomed himself to the possibility that a lady who cried over everything, the half-witted daughter of the prince of Essosi, or the daughter of a rich merchant who did not even know the common language, could become his bride.

But he did not want to marry a lord's widow.

You were supposed to meet him today, since it was your second marriage, there wasn't even a need for a big wedding ceremony. Green council expected a quick wedding a few weeks later, accompanied by a priest.

While he was waiting for your arrival in the room, Aemond was not dressed as if he were preparing to meet his future wife. And he was sulking in a way that could only be interpreted as disrespectful.

When you entered the room, his eyes followed the black dress you were wearing. If it wasn't too much, he would laugh at your still mourning, just to make you feel stupid. Instead of laughing, he continued to look at you coldly and with a slight irritation.

    "I won't marry a widow."
