If someone was to tell Bucky a few years back that he was going to be working as Congressman one day, he would've laughed right at their face. Or punched them. Either one, really.

And yet, here he was. Hair slicked back, nice suit and all, standing right in the middle of a gala night made for the senators and members of the congress. Including him. Congressman Barnes. An ironic title considering his past. He would never get used to it. Well, he hoped he wouldn't have to. After all, the only reason he was even having to put up with this was so he could gather information on Valentina so she didn't pass her impeachment.

He glanced around the room, trying to ignore the way some visitors or guests gaze lingered on him as if trying to figure out if he truly was Bucky Barnes before they quickly continued to hurry away. That, he was used to. The gala was held in the same hall where Loki invaded way back then, when the Avengers first became a thing. They even had all the monuments and items on display to prove it. And unfortunately for him, all that did was give him a horrible reminder that all of that was in fact in the past.

The Avengers were not coming back.

His gaze landed on something interesting, though. You, looking at the Avengers logo. He had seen you before around these types of things. You weren't a senator though...no, you didn't seem to have any title in Congress. Lucky. Perhaps you were there for the same reason as him.

He came up to stand beside you, looking at the large Avengers 'A' in front of them.

"This must all be history to you, huh?" he asked, glancing over at you. You seemed young enough. Younger than he was, that was for sure. Then again, everyone was. Of course, he was referring to the whole Avengers thing.

He hated that he had to call it history.
