Shadow had expected a lot of things from Amy's birthday party. The train being a Badnik certainly wasn't one. But what also wasn't one was Sonic (after the train ordeal, when everyone was just hanging out around an arcade and such of sorts, still in their costumes) sneaking away from the group. Shadow looked around and waited but nobody seemed to notice. He sighed to himself and reluctantly went after Sonic.
He found Sonic sitting, curled up, on a bench outside the lazer tag— which wasn't going that day— door. Sonic didn't notice Shadow as he approached, but flinched when he finally saw Shadow, who sat down on the other end of the bench.
Shadow didn't ask if he was okay or anything, instead opting to look over Sonic, noticing his ears being flattened to his head and the discomfort in his eyes, that Shadow thought was both from his presence, maybe because of him catching Sonic like that specifically, and something else.
