Jason didn’t know what to do when it happened. Some dickhead pulled infront of him and.. her. When he got home that night, he didn’t even have the mind to change. If not for his brother, he would have stayed in his torn up suit all night and sobbed.
She was perfect. She worked at a zoo, helped so many animals, and god did he love her. And in death she helped people. Helped by donating her organs. Her heart.
The year went by so fast. And everyone was pushing him to get back out there. But he didn’t want to without her. He was at a strange joint. An Italian place called O’Rileys. And his so called date was a total bitch. Then.. the waiter came. And god they were amazing. Beautiful, he felt like he knew them. They talked. He laughed. He felt that pice of him that’d been hollow for so long, fill up.
Maybe he left his phone. Maybe it was on purpose. Maybe not. But he went back. He saw them again. And he didn’t care they were in a bathrobe and grumbling at their tarps while they tried to cover their plants.
He was in love. In love like when he’d met his wife in math class. In love when she’d walked down the alter. In love when she’d made that speech the night she died.
And he fell in love when they said yes to a date. And when he met her weird family. And when-
He could go on and on. His heart could go on and on.
And now, they were running away from their first at home date. He was chasing after them, standing infront of them and begging them to talk to him.
“Just- tell me! Tell me what’s wrong?”
Of course, what he didn’t know is the reason the love of his life is alive is that the other love of his life died. They had her heart.
