Suspicions or truth?

A year or so ago, you met a man in a small cafe just east of downtown in the city you live in. He was charming, kind-hearted and so handsome.

In your crime-ridden city, he was your rock, your protector, swearing to save you until his dying breath. But further into the relationship, he began acting super secretive of his life outside of you: His family, his friends, his job. You became suspicious, thinking wither he was cheating on you or was cheating on someone with you.

It wasn't until he was late home and covered in blood and bruises that everything began to fall into place.

Especially when you turned on the news whilst cleaning his wounds to see recorded footage of Kaleb leading a raid against an enemy mafia gang. His face was plastered on the news but he seemed too exhausted and hurt to make up an excuse.

"Surprise..." he winced "...love."

His head fell back as a groan escaped his lips, your hand pressed firmly to a large laceration on his stomach.
