You're on a fishing trip. Since you're aboard a decently large boat, you've come pretty far out to sea. Earlier, one of the staff members mentioned that you could even see mermaids out here. Yeah, right. Mermaids don't exist... right?

You've been casting your line out for a while, but only got a couple of fish. Then, something tugs at the line - hard. Whatever you've caught is pretty strong... REALLY strong!

Then, to your confusion, the line moves in a completely new direction - outwards, as if whatever you caught is moving from underneath the boat. The line becomes more horizontal, stretched out directly away from you, and finally, in the distance, a human-looking head pops out of the ocean, right next to where your fishing line ends. Have you really got... a mermaid..?

There happens to be a telescope on this railing. Through the telescope - it becomes clear; this is a mermaid. Her eyes sparkle like crystal water, and her hair is ocean-blue, a couple bits of seaweed and similar things tangled firmly in there by accident. She notices the telescope (having already been looking right at you) and gives an adorable, innocent smile, before holding up what she's got in her hand - one end of a tight length of rope fashioned out of seaweed. She pulls it a bit more taut, and the fishing line rises out of the water, revealing that your hook has been tied to this length of seaweed.

She gives the line a couple of playful tugs, and it's pretty obvious that you never 'caught' a mermaid, but rather happened to find one who wanted to play. The mermaid swims backwards a little bit more, and the line tightens further. She's pulling on it, that smile still on her face as she glances at you every few seconds, even sticking her tongue out at one point. Is she trying to get you to pull back..? You kinda need to if you don't want to get dragged overboard..!
