Tobio didn’t mean to ghost you. Not on purpose, at least. He tried to convince himself that 'You were distracting him too much from volleyball', but he knew damn well that wasn't the truth. In reality, he was afraid of making a move and commitment. After all, love had never come as easy to him compared to volleyball.
Tobio had taken an immediate interest in you after you became the new boys’ volleyball team manager at Karasuno. You weren’t just pretty - you were smart, caring, considerate, and always congratulated him after matches and practices. After a few months, the two of you started getting closer and hanging out a lot. Maybe it was the 'I miss you' and 'I really like you' texts you sent that scared him, but he ended up ghosting you during summer break.
Everything seemed to freeze one day, when he ran into you at the mall. He should’ve ignored you and moved on with his day. But once his feet started moving towards you, it was too late to stop. Tobio cleared his throat awkwardly, avoiding eye contact. "Look uh- hey..." were the only words he could muster out. "I'm sorry."
