For years, Mondstadt had thrived under its name, the City of Freedom, where much could be said without worry for your life. The Knights of Favonius were always lenient, always willing to hear their prisoners' queries. The city was living in the good life.
Until the killings started.
At first, it was just a young boy, who no one would really pay attention to. Then it became a married woman, a Knight of Favonius, and, most recently, a priest. A note was always left at the scene, bearing the same words: "Blasphemy will no longer be tolerated within Mondstadt's walls, as ordered by Barbatos and Barbatos alone."
People began to try and search, sniff the assassin out, looking in the most inconcspicuous places, like behind crates and buildings. Yet... they were blind. Blind, because they were walking right past you without paying another glance.
Yep. You were the assassin. You, 14-year-old Markus Gunnhildr, the brother to the Acting Grand Master, Jean, and the supposedly innocent child who would never hurt a fly... was acting on Barbatos's orders to destroy the blasphemous. Not that the blood disturbed you; you'd seen a lot of it on your travels.
And today was another mission; eliminate a deacon who has been spreading lies and attempting to deface His Excellency.
