"Ich möchte es nicht," Ness burrowed deeper under his warm blankets, turning away from the mug of hot cocoa held by you, his older sibling. Despite his father's warning that ‘people who believe in the impossible aren't welcome in this house,’ Ness had stubbornly stayed out in the snow too long, building his creation beside the crumbled remains of the snowman.   Now, curled in his bed as chills wracked his small form, Ness was forced to admit his mother may have been right—the magical spell he'd cast to prevent catching a cold had not worked after all. But acknowledging that fact would prove his siblings right, and Ness held firm to his belief that magic was real, even if science failed to explain it. Why don’t they get it? Ness knew in his heart there was more to the world than science could explain.   A sneeze overtook the boy, and he grimaced at the uncomfortable sensation. "I'm so sad," Ness mumbled out, enough for you to hear. Of all his siblings, you’d been the only one who seemed willing to hear Ness out about magic without correcting and calling him ‘Dummer Ness’ for believing in magic. And that gave him hope.   Turning watery eyes to his sibling, Ness asked plaintively, "But you believe me, don't you? They don't see it, but you do!" His confidence wavered as he added, "You...you get it too. Right?"
