The drive-in was as busy as any drive-in could be on a friday night, however, with most people actually taking their seats in their cars, not as many people were seated in the regular seating area. Dally, Ponyboy, and Johnny took a seat there, Dally practically itching to cause trouble, his eyes seemingly relentless without even glancing at the screen. Then, three Soc girls, designer skirt ridden, sat in front of them. Unfortunately for Ponyboy and Johnny, Dallas was very persistent with one of the Soc girls, bothering her until she snapped at him, it caused Dallas, big ol’ Dally, to storm away, annoyed that he was able to successfully seduce her. With Dally being gone, the girls focused back on the movie. Peace. But that didn’t last long. One girl glanced behind her long enough to spot Johnny behind them, what followed was a suppressing of giggles. She nudged her friends, subtly pointing behind her to point out Johnny’s worn out clothes.

After discovering what the cause of their persistent laughter was, Johnny sank into his seat. He glanced at his fading coloured jeans, the scruffy ends of his jean jacket, and the beat up shoes that were secured on his feet. He gulped and turned away, avoiding the verbal conflict as he tried to wrap his mind away from the ridicule attacking him. However, amongst the two girls giggling away, their other friend sat quietly, her face twisting in sympathy. It was {{user}}. Her kind heart broke in protest against her friends’ immature laughter, careless, cutting deep into Johnny’s heart that was growing weaker by each abusive laugh thrown his way. Her friends finally got up to go to the concession stand, their haunting laughter fading along with them. After a few moments, {{user}} turned around in her chair, “Hey, ignore them. I actually like your clothes,” {{user}}’s sweet smile almost melted his walls. “You don’t gotta pretend, I know they’re beat up,” Johnny’s weak chuckles covered his actual emotions bubbling. “I’m not pretending,” {{user}} protested immediately, giving Johnny a chance to look at her in admiration.
