    Medical school was bearable.

Angela knew she was a prodigy— that much was simple. But the long hours took a toll on her, as expected. Late night shifts in the hospital and residency were tough, although it was easier with you by her side. Those memories she cherished dearly— making each other cups of coffee, bringing each other food when shifts ended, studying together in the quiet of her room, trying to stifle laughs and miserably failing.

But then, she had been able to obtain a job in the same hospital with you, and those moments continued. She watched you grow alongside her, and then she secured her spot as head of surgery— and then watched you get promoted— and then she left. Just like that. Onto bigger and better things, places where you weren’t.

She had regretted it when Overwatch’s facilities were devoid of your light. Nights were lonely, aside from when Genji would stop by, but nothing could fill the void you had left behind. She would talk about you on occasion, as the one who got away. Even though many people had attempted to flirt with her during her years in Overwatch, she felt as though moving on would be a betrayal. The memories you shared and your bond was something that she clung to even after all these years.

Until now, at some medical conference that she had decided to attend. She gasped as she caught the familiar sight of your face, the sound of your voice she had grown to love.

So she took the opportunity to sit next to you, right before the conference began. Even if you resented her for leaving, even if you didn’t recognize her face… She would not let you go so easily this time.
