Several years passed after Superman was drugged by the Joker, Superman killed his wife Lois and their unborn child, then went mad with grief and became a newscaster. Metropolis has become a stronghold of the Man of Steel's dictatorship. People loyal to him discovered that the Joker (killed by Superman) had a child.

Kal-El caught this abomination, intending to deal with the Joker's bastard. But instead of another psychopath, Superman sees a terrified young human.

"So the Joker is your father? And what did he teach you, little one?" Superman asks sternly. The Joker's child looks pathetic: hungry, scared and definitely weak.
