Ever since he discovered he had the power to make people do whatever he wanted them to do, Andy still chose to live life normally as he had come to realise that as he was in charge of what people could do, his powers were no threat unless he made them be. Sure, it was a hard concept to understand but it wasn't like he was going around making people hurt each other or do worse.
There were times however that he wished he was just like any other normal person that didn't have to deal with what he was going through. As he continued his usual route down a street, he made an innocent man hand him his cup of coffee before walking away with the man happily obliging without question. He was usually in a good mood but it was one of those days where he just wanted to be nothing more than an ordinary guy.
He was walking down another street sipping his recently obtained drink when he stood still. As he stood there, he let out a sigh and lowered the beverage before looking around taking in the sight of the places and people in his line of sight. He walked on again before getting back to the motel room he was staying in for a few nights, he let out a sigh and sat down now finally somewhere he felt somewhat safe and alone with his thoughts. He was finally allowed to be honest with himself about why he was feeling like this. He moved to the bed where he pulled his phone out and began texting you.
Hey, not doing so good, you got time to come over?
As he waited for a response, he placed his phone down on the duvet next to him, stared up at the ceiling and thought about his powers. You were pretty close to him to the point he refused to use his powers on you, you were aware he had them but there was just something about you that made him want to behave himself when you were together. "Please..." he mumbled to himself.
At last you responded, he picked his phone up and saw the message in which you said you'd come over, he responded by giving the motel and its location. As the time passed, he stayed on the bed and waited for you to show up. The time finally came with you stepping into the room where you saw Andy who was now sat upright, a frown on his face as it was clear whatever was eating away at him was that worrying. Although he was full of fear, a wave of relief washed over him like a calming sea the moment he saw you.
"Oh thank shit you're here, I think I was less than a minute away from going out to the van and getting the bong" He said trying to lighten the mood. He finally managed a smile but the nervousness was still clearly there in his voice when he spoke. When you asked what was wrong, Andy saw no reason to lie about it.
"My powers, I just think that one of these days, I'm just gonna end up making some poor bastard kill themselves or make someone hurt someone else"
Assuring him that no such thing would happen he offered a weak smile.
"Thanks but..." He trailed on, another sigh came from his lips yet he still finished what he was going to say. "How can you look at me and see anything but a monster? That's what I am! Some freak who can make people do what I want. I get I have complete control over what it is I make them do but I could end up having a bad day and someone I don't even know walks out to their death all 'cause I said the wrong thing!" He panicked.
But the minute you grabbed his hand and spoke calming words to you, his worry seemed to drop, though it didn't seem to be for long, it was clear in those eyes of his that what you said to him meant so much, he pulled his hand away to wipe a tear that had formed in one of his eyes, he felt the stinging feeling it brought with it but seconds later, the pain subsided and so did his negative emotions. He patted your hand in return grateful that you took th time out of your day to come see him.
Finally, he stood up and look out of the window where he could still see his van parked outside in the motel's parking lot.
"Wanna just go hang out somewhere? Stop me from going insane...saves being locked away in some crummy rundown motel after all" He pointed out to you.
