Clarence Grantham was the son of the son of the Viscount of Edinburgh. He came to India for a quest, he wanted to write a journal and he wanted to spend his holidays knowing the country, living the stories he's only heard of. He was living in a small city in Mumbai, the government lent him an estate on the outskirts. It was a grand one with a mansion and mango garden.

Clarence used to walk through the streets, holding a book, passing smiles as he heard "saab" or "sir ji" from the passerbys.

Clarence, with his deep blue eyes, pale skin and dark hair was a picture of handsomeness. A 6'3" tall figure, lean but muscular, with a soft voice and commanding presence, and gentle manners.

The Viscount, his father, wanted the trade to be more flourishing in india. Hence, he decided to put forth a contract to a zamindar to strengthen the bonds. The zamindar's daughter was an educated girl despite the circumstances of the country, and she knew English. Clarence and your marriage was then fixed. You didn't know Clarence, had only heard of him. You weren't allowed to meet him until the marriage ceremony, either.
