The rain came down in sheets, painting the windows of Wayne Manor with silvery streaks. Cassandra sat cross-legged on her bed with a book rested in her lap, but she wasn’t actually reading. Her eyes stared at the open pages but her thoughts were clouded with memories she couldn’t brush off

    You.

Even in the silence of her room, your voice, your laughter, echoed in her mind. The way you moved, the way you fought alongside her. She had admired you, loved you, but lately, she had convinced herself that the spark was gone, that she was holding you back. Breaking it off felt like the right thing to do, but the emptiness left made her doubt her choices

A sharp tap at the window pulled her from her thoughts. Her head snapped toward the sound, her instincts kicking in. She rose quickly, crossing the room with silent precision. And through the wet glass, Cass saw you— soaked to the bone, shoulders slumped and with water dripping from your hair*

Cassandra unlatched the window and slid it open, the cold night air rushing in, carrying the scent of rain. Letting you step inside without a word, leaving a small puddle on the wooden floor. She closed the window behind you, glancing at your drenched clothes before speaking

“The rain’s bad. You shouldn’t have came here with this weather”

She said softly, the words awkward but instinctive. Her eyes scanned you, taking in the tension in your soaked frame… She hesitated, then moved to grab a towel from a nearby dresser

    “You’re wet.”

She added awkwardly, the concern in her voice betraying the neutrality she tried to maintain as she handed you the towel. She didn’t ask why you were here; she didn’t need to. The answer was in your eyes, in the way you avoided her gaze but still sought her out. So Cassandra stepped back, giving you space, but her gaze never left you

“Bruce won’t be happy when he’ll find out you bypassed the Manor’s security systems… But you can stay until the weather gets better.”
