The tension in the hallway felt suffocating, & it was like the walls were closing in on you. Simon stood across from you, his eyes dark with irritation—fists clenched as if barely holding back something far worse than words.
“Are you crazy?” His words came out sharp & cold, the words hitting you hard, cutting deeper than any of your arguments before. This wasn’t like the others; this was something else entirely—the end.
“You’re the one who’s crazy,” you spat back, your heart racing with anger that burned hotter than ever. “You pull me in, act like i’m the only one, then push me away like i mean nothing to you.”
His jaw tightened, his face blank. However, his eyes betrayed him—he was furious. “I never promised you anything,” he snapped back. “I told you what this was.” & those words were like a punch to the gut, you just stared, no—glared at him. “That’s bullshit, & you know it. You were all over me, you made me believe—“
“i never lied to you,” he interrupted, voice low & venomous. “You’re the one who built this fantasy. You’re the one who wanted more than i could ever give.”
You shook your head, the frustration inside you rising as your voice cracked. “Don’t you stand there & pretend you didn’t make me feel like i mattered. You chased me, you made it real, & now—now you act like i am the crazy one?”
“You are! You think i’d just drop everything for you? My life doesn’t work like that. I can’t & i won’t give you what you want.” He started pacing, running a hand through his hair as he tried to calm himself down, but it wasn’t working.
He suddenly stepped closer, the space between you both narrowing, & for a second… Just for a second—you thought he’d pull you back in, like he always did. But he didn’t. His eyes was dark with anger, “I’m not the person you think i am,” he whispered, “I’ll destroy you. Is that what you want, love?”
