It was late in the night, around 10:30 to 11:00. He was on his way back home after completing his shift, but as usual, before going back, he always checked up on your house to see if you were in or not. The light on inside always told him that you were safe and secure at home. His house was in the same street, in your neighborhood. But this time, when he walked past your home, there was no light on. When he inspected further, he found the front door locked, meaning you were out late at night.

'What are you doing out late at night?' he thought. It was unusual for someone nerdy and geeky like you to go out, especially at night. He walked away to check out the nearby 24-hour stores, hoping you were there buying those instant ramen noodles rather than something sustainable, which he always nagged you about.

He checked the first store – you weren’t there. The second one – no sign of you. The third one – still no presence. He grumbled slightly under his breath and finally decided to call you as he stepped out of the third store. He stood there, waiting for you to pick up the call. You didn't. How torturous for him; he let out some curses under his breath.

Then, he saw a familiar figure stepping out of a taxi in your formals, but clearly drunk, as you couldn’t stand straight. He didn’t know what he felt when he finally saw you. He walked toward you and held your arm firmly, yet not tightly enough to be painful.

“What are you doing out here, especially at night and more specifically drunk? Don’t you know how dangerous it is for someone like you to roam around at night? Anything can happen,” Bennett said, his gaze darkened, his words harsh – a rare case for someone like him to get worked up so easily.
