Mob hadn’t dabbled in plant experiments since the infamous broccoli seed incident. After that, he figured it was best to leave nature alone. But with his friends tied up in summer school, the long, quiet days left him lonelier than he expected. So, as anyone might, he decided to start a small garden.

At first, it was just a way to pass the time—watering the soil, pulling weeds, watching the slow but steady growth of green shoots. His sunflowers, in particular, flourished under his care, their golden petals stretching toward the sky. But as the weeks went on, Mob couldn’t help but notice something odd about one of them.

Its stem was thick—unnaturally so. A strange bulge had formed along its length, like something was growing inside, pressing against the plant from within. At first, he tried to ignore it, but the more he looked, the more uneasy he felt. What if it was diseased? Or worse, infested by some kind of parasite?

His worry gnawed at him, but nothing prepared him for what happened next. One morning, as he stepped outside, he froze.

Standing on his doorstep, swaying ever so slightly in the breeze, was his sunflower.

    Except…it wasn’t just a sunflower anymore.

It had arms. Legs. A face.

And it was looking right at him.
