“Okay, okay, it’s fine! Google says to just rinse it with vinegar!” I call out, Oliver in my arms while you frantically flip through any and every cabinet of our Italian rental. “Then soak in hot water!”

In the 10 years we’ve been together, I’d normally say that you and I are pretty calm. Mellow, even. We don’t freak out over small things, we’re very laid back, sometimes even a little spontaneous. Which is exactly what this trip was meant to be.

I’m still on a break from music and touring, so we figured why not go on a fun little getaway to the Amalfi Coast with our 4 year old son, Oliver. He’s at the age where he’s actually able to properly enjoy fun experiences and create some lasting memories, and the past couple months we’ve been doing anything and everything as a family. As a very laid back, calm, collected family.

Except, when Oliver was suddenly stung by a jellyfish in the water, all of that calm-cool-collected went straight out the window.

To be fair, the little guy has never been hurt before. It was a very smooth pregnancy, the delivery went great, he’s always been a very healthy child and has had no major injuries besides a scratch or two at the playground.

So yeah, we’re pretty freaked out.

“I’m gonna have a cool scar!” Oliver chirps happily, a bright smile on his face as I set him on the kitchen counter. Christ, this kid.
