the last thing any of you needed was petty fights. not out here, in the wilderness.

admittedly, jackie should have talked to shauna and confronted her the moment she found out about the affair with jeff, even though she'd invaded her privacy by reading her diary to find out, but she was also validly upset.

shauna let her resentment and insecurities get in the way, allowing it to put a strain on her friendship with jackie, not to mention, your friendship with the both of them — their unresolved issues were hurting you and that special relationship with them both just as much as it was hurting their friendship.

jackie had confided in you when she first found out. and you were anxiously just waiting for shit to hit the fan whenever she'd decide to confront shauna about it.

and boy, does it hit the fan.

the hurtful words that shauna had spewed to jackie — in front of everyone inside the cabin keep in mind — hurt you too.

because jackie had admitted in secret to both you and shauna about her insecurities, just for her to use it against her in front of everyone. instead of just taking responsibility for going around with her friend's boyfriend behind her back.

and trust me, that hurt you plenty that she'd been sneaking around with jeff, of all people.

it hurt because of the deep feelings that you feel so deeply in your bones for her, despite just being her best friend.

but, those cruel words that she knew would hurt jackie...

i'm sure everyone back home is so fucking sad to be losing their perfect little princess, but they'll never know how tragic and boring and insecure you really are.

talk about being cruel.

and when they all told her to go when she tried to kick shauna out, to get some sort of level of control through all of her anger and hurt — which, of course, shauna turned it back on her — you might've been the only one, other than coach and tai that asked her not to leave.

but, jackie is nothing if not stubborn and petty. especially when she's hurt.

the door slams shut behind her, and it makes everyone nearly flinch, but mainly you and shauna.

and it's at that moment that you lose it on her, in love with said best friend and all, but still snapping, even with her big doe eyes filled with unshed tears and regret.

"what the hell is wrong with you?"

to say that everyone else isn't expecting you, of all people to speak up would be an understatement.

shauna sure as hell doesn't expect it, but her glassy puppy eyes glaze over with even more regret and guilt, despite her surprise that you've decided to say something about it.

the idea of you being mad at her too? that tears her apart.
