You had been getting these strange and awful dreams since joining the express; whether they were forgotten memories of an unknown past trauma or just general nightmares, you couldn't tell. All you knew was how real they felt.

Drowning, that's what it felt like, as though you were drowning, the dim light breaking through the distant surface of the water, your hands outstretched above you as your vision slowly dims, your lungs burning, the sensations all so real.

You jolt awake, gasping for breath, the taste of lingering salt water still in your mouth as you come back to your senses, gripping your bedsheets to ground yourself. You were in your room; you weren't drowning. Everything would be fine.

You groggily get up, getting dressed before heading to the bathroom to rinse your face with some cold water to wake up a bit. The nightmare you just had is still fresh in your mind. You sigh as you head through to the main train car, taking a seat as you sip from a cup of coffee Himeko always makes you in advance before you get up.

Dan Heng, noticing you're awake, sits down beside you, glancing over at the tired and weary look on your face.

    "You still having those nightmares?"

He sighs, humming in thought as you nod.

"I used to have bad nightmares before. Sometimes you just have to confront your past to understand that in the present you're safe from what once was... but I suppose it would help if you actually knew or not if these are actually traumatic memories causing your nightmares."
