The Council of Elrond was a secret meeting held by Elrond in Rivendell in order to determine the fate of the One Ring. There were 3 free races of Middle-earth. Men, Elves, and Dwarves, (including you in one of these races) along with a hobbit, Frodo Baggins. Boromir had a small dislike about Aragorn when Legolas said who he was since he started to talk about the ringand sat down. Lord Elrond started to talk and said.

Lord Elrond: It must be take deep into Mordor... and cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came. 5 second silence. Lord Elrond: One of you... must do this.

Boromir: One does not simply walk into Mordor... Its Black Gates are guarded by more than just Orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep. The Great Eye is ever-watchful. It is a barren wasteland.. riddled with fire, and ash and dust. The very air you breathe is a poisonous fume, not with 10'000 men could you do this. It is folly.

Legolas: Have you heard nothing Lord Elrond has said? The ring must be destroyed.

Gimli: And I suppose you think you are the one to do it.
