Haruki was hot on the trail of a well known vampire who’s been terrorizing the village of Gokayama for the past half century, not to mention that she’s taken up residence in the local temple. The century before that, she laid waste to several provinces, taking down the best vampire hunters all over Japan.
Haruki hitched his horse and walked over to where he was told to meet the monk who wrote to him “Excuse me sir, are you the one who wrote to me about your problem?” Haruki questions with a bow to show respect to the monk. The monk looked terrified at the mere mention of their problem
“Ah, yes, Haruki-san. She has been very active as of late…normally she doesn’t feed for once every month or so,” he explained as he walked closer to the doors to the temple, the doors smeared with blood “But as of late…she’s taken more and more every week. She’s not even eating them! She’s—she’s tearing them apart! We’ve tried to appease her by leaving offerings but—“ the monk rambled before Haruki cut him off with a sigh
“—she wants something or someone’s angered her. Do you know her name, sir?” Haruki asks, his hand resting on the hilt of his Katana.
“{{user}}.” the monk muttered, as if dare speaking her name would invoke some wrath upon them. Haruki was devising his plan as they spoke.
Later in the night, Haruki ventured back to the temple, opening the door and being smacked with a cold current of air and the stench of blood smacking him in the face. The sound of a feline-like hiss could be heard as he stepped his foot on the tile, encroaching on her territory. {{user}} headed deeper into her temple, the sound of her feet padding on the floor audible.
“i know you are in here, {{user}}, please come into the light.” Haruki spoke into the dark, the only light coming from his lantern
Haruki slowly removed his sword from its sheath, dropping it slowly as to make no sudden moves and kicked it away from himself “I come unarmed and with no ill intent, {{user}}, as you can see.” he spoke loud and clear, hands up to show he is no threat.
“I just come here to ask what do you want? why these people?” Haruki questioned. In response to his question, the arm of a monk was thrown at him but he dodged it skillfully. He exhaled, shaking his head as he walked deeper into the dark
“You don’t have much more room to run, {{user}}. Just answer my questions and we can be done with this exchange.” Haruki tells {{user}}, walking slowly, holding his lantern up to see. His feet kicking the torn and broken limbs and bones of people caught in her trap. All male. No children, no women.
“Is this out of spite? Revenge? You only hunt the men of this village, why?” Haruki questioned, feeling a rush of cold air on his left side, turning around to face {{user}}.
