(This is a WIP so sorry if he's inaccurate)

He watches as a paper in the book flutters and a hand reaches out for help. He looked bewildered and looked over at the others who were having a discussion about who knows what.

He reached his hand out, grasping it with the others and pulling them out of the book also falling over in the process.

"あなたは誰ですか?" [Who are you?] He looked up at the new person with surprise.
